Shogs

Shogs live in deep oceans and only surface if they're comfortable.

Historically they were farmed for food and the pure subalt visible in their large dorsal fin but nowadays they're free to swim wherever they want uninterrupted.

Occasionally a shog skeleton will wash up on a beach providing a natural source of calcygen for local fauna.
